Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla announced on his Facebook page the province of Cavite will be placed under a 15-day calibrated or adjusted community quarantine starting May 1.
Under the policy, a 24-hour curfew will be observed. Quarantine pass holders are exempted from the curfew but will only be allowed to be outside until 6 p.m.
Frontline workers, food handlers, bank employees, and relief operations personnel are also exempted from the curfew. Essential businesses such as food services, gas stations, and financial services will remain open.
Wearing of facemasks in public or outside houses is mandatory. Remulla warned violators of the guidelines will be held liable.
The governor clarified a total lockdown will not be implemented in their province and apologized for the confusion brought by his initial announcement.
Meanwhile, the local government of Trece Martires has been preparing for the calibrated quarantine as relief operations are ongoing. Barangays Lapidario and De Ocampo have been placed under extreme enhanced community quarantine.
Cavite has recorded 169 confirmed COVID-19 cases. The province has recently finished COVID-19 testing of suspected patients. Remulla said more than 1,200 have been tested and six percent tested positive.
The provincial government is set to establish three more testing centers in the province. – Report from Bea Bernardo
