CHED: Schools can decide on resuming face-to-face classes

By Lynroe Francisco

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) said Wednesday, July 13, that it will leave the decision to universities regarding the resumption of face-to-face classes.

This was after the Department of Education ordered the transition of public and private schools under its jurisdiction to five-day classrooms-based learning starting November 2.

“There is never a date to start all higher [education] because different schools open at different times,” CHED Chairperson J. Prospero De Vera said.

De Vera noted that some universities have three or more semesters within an academic period with varying academic calendars.

He added that higher education institutions have different programs with different components including skills-based courses, while basic education has a single curriculum for all students.  –ag
