Comelec to print almost 80K ballots for Marawi polls

MANILA — Almost 80,000 official ballots are set to be used in the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) polls in Marawi City next month, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Friday.

Comelec spokesman James Jimenez noted that they are looking to print a total of 79,289 ballots for the September 22 polls in less than a week.

“Printing (of the ballots) is scheduled Aug. 27 to Sept. 1,” he said.

A total of 53,009 ballots will be for village voters while 26,280 ballots are for youth voters.

Meanwhile, the poll body announced that the filing of Certificates of Candidacy (COC) will start on August 23.

“Aspiring candidates will have eight days to file their COCs or until Aug. 30,” according to Comelec Resolution No. 10412.

The election period will run from Aug. 17 to Sept. 29 while the campaign period will be on September 12-20. (Ferdinand Patinio/PNA)
