De Vera retains CHED post

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. retained Prospero “Popoy” De Vera as chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

De Vera started to lead CHED in 2018 under the administration of former president Rodrigo Duterte.

He thanked Marcos Jr. for his reappointment as head of CHED.

“Maraming salamat PBBM sa iyong tiwala at pagbibigay ng pagkakataon na mabigyan natin ng libre, dekalidad, at makabuluhang mataas na edukasyon ang kabataang Pilipino!” De Vera wrote on his Facebook page.

Meanwhile, Marcos Jr. picked Raphael Perpetuo Lotilla to lead Department of Energy and Epimaco Verano Densing III as Department of Education undersecretary.

Former Department of Environment and Natural Resources Undersecretary Benny Antiporda will serve as acting administrator and member of the Board of Directors of the National Irrigation Administration.

Marcos Jr. designated Monica Prieto Teodoro as special envoy of the president to the United Nations Children’s Fund and Alex Quiroz as chairman of Governance Commission for Government-Owned or Controlled Corporations.

  • Franz Josef George Espina Alvarez, acting president, chief executive officer, and member, Board of Directors of the PNOC Exploration Corporation.
  • Rosalia Villegas de Leon, treasurer of the Philippines
  • Philippe Jones Lhuiller, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Spain, including the Canary Islands
  • Pedro Ramirez Laylo, ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the State of Israel
  • Emmanuel Buenaflor Salamat, executive director of the National Secretariat of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict
  • Ferdinand Galves Sevilla, president of Philippine Public Safety College of the Department of the Interior and Local Government
