DepEd to probe ‘Sagot for Sale’ scheme

The Department of Education (DepEd) will be investigating the reported “Sagot for Sale” (Answers for Sale) scheme that has allegedly become widespread amid the conduct of distance learning in the country.

Undersecretary Diosdado San Antonio said in the Laging Handa briefing that the DepEd is now coordinating with its regional offices to probe into the issue and they are prepared to file administrative cases.

“Siempre po dadaan sila sa proseso ng administrative cases, at ‘pag napatunayang nagkasala ay magkakaroon po ng parusa base sa nakitang bigat nito (They will undergo the process for administrative cases and will be punished based on the gravity of the offense),” San Antonio assured.

The education department was urged to conduct an investigation after the matter was brought up at the Senate hearing on Wednesday, with Senator Sherwin Gatchalian questioning the 99-percent passing rate of some students.

Meanwhile, the DepEd assured it has sufficient funds to cover the salary of personnel behind DepEd TV following complaints of delayed compensation.

“Ang alam ko po may pondo naman. ‘Yun lang proseso sa pagpapalabas po ng pondo ay may mga sinusunod na proseso (I know there is fund. There is only a process to be followed in the release of funds),” he explained. – Report from Kenneth Paciente
