DICT: SIM registration ‘running smoothly’ with 16-M registered

By Katrina Gracia Consebido

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) reported on Monday, Jan. 9, that SIM registration is “running smoothly” with a total of 16,150,926 registered SIM cards nationwide.

To date, Smart Communication has 7,584,321 registered SIM cards, Globe Telecom Inc. has 7,137,764, and DITO Telecommunity Corporations has 1,428,841.

DICT Undersecretary and Spokesperson Anna Mae Yu Lamentillo said public telecommunications entities (PTEs) are improving the end-user registration process.

“We encourage all SIM subscribers who have not yet registered their SIMs to register already with their PTEs to ensure that their SIMs won’t be deactivated,” Lamentillo said.

“If there are glitches or technical issues during registration, please report these through hotline 1326,” she added.

“We also remind everyone to register only through the official platforms provided by the PTEs,” she continued.

For SIM-related concerns and complaints, the public may call 1326, or the DICT through the listed numbers 0947 714 7105 for Smart users, 0966 976 5971 for Globe subscribers, and 0991 481 4225 for DITO. -ag
