District 1 in Tondo, Manila undergoes total lockdown on May 3

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has signed Executive Order no. 22 where District 1 in Tondo, Manila will undergo a 48-hour total lockdown.

The Manila Local Government Unit (LGU) is hastening the distribution of food packs to Tondo residents since the total lockdown will start on May 3 at 5:00 A.M. until May 5, 5:00 A.M.

The lockdown is only one of the many steps of the Manila LGU to slow down the increase of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the district. Quarantine passes are also void with the exemption of essential workers.

According to the Manila Health Department, District 1 in Tondo is the second area with the highest COVID-19 cases next to Sampaloc. The Manila Health Department will take the opportunity to conduct disease surveillance, verification or testing, and rapid risk assessment while the district is on lockdown.
