The Department of National Defense (DND) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) underscored the enduring trust and confidence of Filipinos toward the military, along with its efforts to uphold national security and sovereignty.

This as the AFP received high levels of public trust and satisfaction reflected in the latest Tugon ng Masa survey conducted by OCTA Research on Sept. 25–30.

According to the survey, 73% of adult Filipinos trust the Armed Forces while 73% are also satisfied with its performance, translating to a net trust rating of +66 and a net satisfaction rating of +68.

“The AFP noted with particular appreciation the strong public support across all regions and social classes, including high trust levels in Mindanao, the National Capital Region, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao,” the AFP said in a statement.

The same survey also found that 83% of Filipinos recognize the importance of defending the West Philippine Sea, while 78% believe that the AFP is capable of protecting the country against external threats.

The AFP highlighted the “professionalism and selfless service” of its soldiers, airmen, sailors, and marines—which “earned the respect and trust” of the people.

“Together with the Filipino people, the AFP will continue to build a strong, modern, and credible Armed Forces that our nation can always rely on,” it said.

Meanwhile, the DND emphasized that the survey “speaks loudly” of the “ever-growing sense of patriotism and unity” of the Filipino people.

“The message is clear: foreign malign influence activities in the country, aided by efforts of disingenuous Filipinos with personal and political interests, remain ineffective in weakening the integrity of the military, the chain of command, and our enduring commitment to defend every inch of our territory,” the DND stated.
