DOH, BFAR warn public against eating fish from fish kill

The Department of Health (DOH) and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) warned the public against gathering and eating the dead fishes in Baseco Beach, Manila.
Following the fish kill, several residents were seen getting fish to eat or sell.

DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire pointed out that the dead fishes might not be clean so there is a big chance that it can make people sick once consumed.

According to BFAR Undersecretary Eduardo Gongona, it is better that the fish eaten is fresh and not killed due to polluted water or chemicals.
Meanwhile, authorities continue to urge the public to cooperate in the rehabilitation of Manila Bay to avoid the recurrence of the fish kill.
