DOH clarifies discrepancy on Jan. 27 COVID-19 cases in Baguio City

DOH PR

Following reports of discrepancies between the number of cases in Baguio City as tallied by the City Government of Baguio and as reported by the DOH in the January 27 Case Bulletin, DOH maintains that the numbers published are correct and well within the acceptable variability of cases between the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (RESU) and national reporting.

The DOH clarifies that the number of cases reflected in the daily case bulletin are numbers submitted to the DOH Epidemiology Bureau (EB) two days prior, and not on the day itself. This means that the number of cases in the January 27 Case Bulletin are from reports submitted last January 25.

Meanwhile, the number of cases cited by the City Government of Baguio are based on the numbers reported by the Baguio Disease Reporting Units on January 27. Said numbers have yet to be validated by the DOH EB, and will be reflected in the January 29 Case Bulletin.

The DOH reiterates that the number of cases submitted to the DOH EB undergo rigorous validation to ensure data accuracy prior to publication.
