The Department of Justice (DOJ) is now preparing protocols including the shift to online mode for its processes to be implemented within the agency under the new normal setup.
Even if preliminary investigations have been cancelled for the meantime, the inquest proceeding conducted online or the e-inquest has continued.
DOJ Undersecretary Markk Perete said the department has been studying to shift all its processes electronically or online, including hearings and preliminary investigations to lessen face to face contact.
“Ang pinaghahandaan natin ngayon ay yung security ng ating imprastraktura nung software as well as the hardware para hindi siya nahahack lalo na dahil kaso yung pinag-uusapan natin dito. Nakakatakot na ma-hack yung sistema (We are preparing the security of our software infrastructure, as well as the hardware, to prevent hacking because we are talking about cases here. It is scary if our system will be hacked),” Perete said.
The DOJ clarified the hard copy of the documents should be presented to check their authenticity even if they are sent online. He added the DOJ has been processing the establishment of an electronic portal for all its online transactions.
The DOJ will start procurement of needed equipment by July after the process study of the agency. It is also hoping to have its online system fully implemented by the third quarter.
