DOLE-9 urges new graduates to be ‘job ready’

ZAMBOANGA CITY — The Department of Labor and Employment-9 (DOLE-9) has advised new graduates to be job-ready so they would have better chances at local or overseas employment.

Ofelia Domingo, DOLE-9 director, on Monday said new graduates must attend the Pre-Employment Seminar for Local Applicant (PESLA) being administered by the Public Employment Service Office (PESO).

PESLA aims to train new graduates on many things, such as how to prepare a resume and how to present themselves properly during interview, Domingo said.

“With the PESLA, they will be able to conduct themselves properly increasing the chances for them of getting hired,” Domingo said.

Domingo said having the right attitude is the most important factor in looking for jobs, especially for new graduates, as skills can be acquired when employed.

She reminded job-seekers that “it is best that one will settle for one job and not to keep on transferring from one company to the other.”
