DOLE wants 600k vaccine doses for deployment cap exemption

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is coordinating with Germany and the United Kingdom (UK) to provide the Philippines additional 600,000 doses of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).

The DOLE sees the additional number of doses as the resolution in exchange for the two countries’ request for an exemption from the deployment cap of 5,000 Filipino nurses a year.

If the UK and Germany would agree to the proposal, the requested vaccine doses will be allotted for the displaced and repatriated OFWs in the Philippines. The labor department assured that it will not agree with the deployment exemption cap if the said countries will not be amenable to the condition set by the Philippines. Report from Louisa Erispe
