Donaire, champion again at 38

Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire Jr. felled Nordine Oubaali three times to get the World Boxing Council bantamweight crown on Sunday, Manila time in Carson, California.

Donaire made the French-Moroccan boxer fall for the first time with his left hook 45 seconds left in the third round.

Oubaali got up only to be  driven to a second knockdown with another left hook from Donaire.

In the fourth round, Donaire finally put a stop to Oubaali’s bid with a combination of hard hits on the head and body, prompting the referee to stop the fight.

The Filipino boxer’s victory made history as Donaire was recognized as the oldest bantamweight champion at 38.

Donaire leveled up his record at 41-6 with 27 knockouts while Oubaali ended up with a 17-1 win-loss record and 12 knockouts.

Following his latest win, Donaire wants a rematch against unified WBA and IBF bantamweight titlist Naoya Inoue who beat him in 2019. – PTV Sports/ JBB-rir
