ILOILO CITY — The Department of Tourism (DOT) in Western Visayas (Region 6) will have a special treat for senior citizens this Valentine’s Day.

The “Senior Moments – A Love Affair with Senior Citizens” is organized by the department in partnership with SM City Iloilo and the Federation of Senior Citizens Affairs of the Philippines (FSCAP) Iloilo Chapter.

Atty. Helen Catalbas, DOT-6 director, in an interview on Tuesday, said the event will give something back to the senior citizens whose experiences and wisdom continue to become a guide in solving present societal issues.

“We want to express our gratitude to our citizens and their contribution to society not only here in Iloilo but all over the Philippines and all over the world. The seniors have contributed a lot to almost all aspects of our life and we want to thank them through simple program that we have come and set up for them,” Catalbas said.

The afternoon event at SM City Iloilo Northpoint aims to entertain the elderly through various interactive activities.

Catalbas said that senior citizens can unleash their dancing and singing talents through the “Wonder Grandma and Grandpa” and the “Dancing King and Queen”.

They will also be entertained in answering trivia questions, playing Bingo game, among others.

The prizes and treats will be provided by Accredited Tourism-Oriented Establishments (TOEs) and Tourism-Related Entities (TREs).

“Senior Talks” will also be one of the main parts of the program where the Department of Health (DOH) 6 will share topics on health and the Commission on Human Rights will discuss laws which concerns the senior citizens.
