DOT slams health protocol violators

The Department of Tourism has slammed a social gathering recently held in a beach resort in San Juan, Batangas for breaching health protocols.

The video of the event showed revelers failing to follow proper physical distancing and did not wear face masks.

According to the DOT, the local government of San Juan has already taken back the beach resort’s business permit. This was not the first time for the establishment and has in fact been earlier suspended from September 2 to17 for committing the same violation.

The tourism department has also been alarmed by reports of tourists from Luzon who went to Boracay with fake COVID-19 test results.

DOT Secretary Bernadette Puyat pointed out that “similar malicious actions will not be condoned as they undermine the collaborative efforts at protecting and reviving Boracay tourism”

Sec. Puyat also reminded hotels and accommodations that opened for business to abide by the health and safety protocols set by the government.

“Erring establishments may face criminal charges as deemed appropriate by the local government unit concerned, and shall likewise be sanctioned by the DOT,” Sec. Puyat reiterated. – Report from Bea Bernardo
