The Department of Transportation (DOTr) refuted claims on the alleged absence of plans on the transportation system amid the general community quarantine (GCQ).
The DOTr explained the confusion among passengers and motorists is inevitable since it is just the start of the GCQ in the metro.
The trasportation department said it also added two routes for buses following the bus augmentation in EDSA.
“May inconvenience, may moments of discomfort. Lahat ho tayo mayroon niyan. Ang pakiusap ko lang ay magkapit-bisig tayo at intindihin natin iyong estado/sitwasyon, sapagkat itong inconvenience na ito sa aking pananaw at sa aking paniniwala ay temporary lamang (There is inconvenience, there are moments of discomfort. All of us have that. I urge that we go arm-in-arm and understand the status/ situation because in my oponion and belief, the inconvenience is only temporary),” DOTr Sec. Arthur Tugade said.
Meanwhile, MMDA Spokesperson Celine Pialago said around 500 buses are allowed to travel.
“Napagkasunduan na ‘yung mga operators po ay magpo-provide po ng city buses… Kung susumahin po kung ilang buses lang po, ‘yung po ang maiko-commit halos aabot lang po ng 40 (Operators have agreed to provide city buses. If we estimate the number of buses, it is only almost 40),” Pialago said. – Report from Stephanie Sevillano
