DOTr issues guidelines on transportation for GCQ

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has released guidelines on the partial operation of public transportation for the implementation of general community quarantine (GCQ).

Based on the regulations, only 50 percent of passenger capacity is allowed for buses and modernized jeepneys per trip. Tricycles are permitted for a single passenger max payload, while taxis and TNVS may carry a maximum of two passengers. Drivers and passengers are required to wear facemasks and fare must be paid to the driver before entering the jeepney to prevent close contact.

The DOTR has encouraged the use of private vehicles under the GCQ provided that the driver is alone in the front seat and a maximum of two passengers at the back. Back riders for private motorcycles are prohibited.

Meanwhile, the railway sectors covering the MRT, LRT, and PNR have assured they are ready to resume operations with a 25 percent passenger capacity once the ECQ is lifted over Mega Manila.
