The driver who pulled out a gun on a cyclist during an altercation has surrendered to authorities, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) confirmed Sunday, Aug. 27.

In the now-viral video, the driver, identified as Wilfredo Gonzales, suddenly stopped in the bike lane, hitting the cyclist.

Gonzales then got out of his red sedan and hit the helmet of the cyclist before pulling out his gun.

According to lawyer Raymond Fortun, the incident happened around 6:00 p.m. on Aug. 8 at Welcome Rotonda in Quezon City.

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte condemned the incident and instructed members of the QCPD and the QC Law and Order Cluster to conduct a probe against Gonzales.

“Sinisiguro ng pamahalaang lungsod na mananagot ang naturang lalaki sa buong saklaw ng batas na kanyang posibleng nilabag,” Belmonte said in a statement.

“Umapela rin ang lokal na pamahalaan sa lalaking siklista na humarap sa imbestigasyon, kasabay ng pagtiyak sa kanyang kaligtasan,” she added.

Meanwhile, Philippine National Police-Firearms and Explosives already confiscated all three guns of Gonzales, also a retired cop. With reports from PTV News/Patrick de Jesus-ag
