DTI sees no problem in prices of basic goods

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has not monitored any problems in the prices of basic necessities.

According to DTI Consumer Protection Group Undersecretary Ruth Castelo, the prices of basic commodities are stable. The DTI has reverted to the suggested retail price of manufactured food products after the expiration of the price freeze that was implemented upon the declaration of state of calamity by the government.

The DTI is also considering the lifting of the anti-hoarding and anti-panic buying memorandum circular.

In terms of rent, the agency explained that landlords must give tenants a 30-day grace period starting on the date of the lifting of the community quarantine. Tenants must not be forced to pay in full, they can be given an installment option for 6 months.

Meanwhile, the DTI is looking into how they can maintain reasonable prices of bicycles and electronic gadgets since they are now in-demand.
