Recommendations for the opening of the economy such as shorter curfew hours have been approved in the 48th cabinet meeting headed by President Rodrigo Duterte at Malacañang on Monday.
The Palace announced on Tuesday that the cabinet has given a go signal for the suggestions of the economic cluster that include shorter curfew hours, multiple work shifts, and the further gradual expansion of business capacity to 75 to 100 percent.
The age group of individuals allowed to go out will be gradually expanded, possibly to 15 to 65 years-old, depending on the decision of the IATF.
The escalation of quarantine level will also be considered only as “last resort” if the number of COVID-19 cases are rising.
“It will be effective upon publication in the Official Gazette. Hindi na po kinakailangan ng IATF meeting iyan kasi it was a full Cabinet meeting (An IATF meeting will no longer be needed on the matter because it was a full cabinet meeting),” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque stated.
Meanwhile, President Rodrigo Duterte is set to meet with the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) on Wednesday to discuss anew the response to COVID-19.
The meeting will be followed by his weekly public address. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
