Easterlies to bring rains Saturday

MANILA — The easterlies is forecast to bring rains to the country until Saturday afternoon, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its 4 p.m. weather bulletin effective for 24 hours, the weather bureau said the easterlies would “affect the rest of the country”, with warm winds coming from the Pacific likely causing cloud formation.

Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Davao region, northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Bohol province can also expect cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the added impact of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), an area where northern and southern air mass converge and known breeding ground for typhoons.

PAGASA cautioned of possible flooding and landslides caused by light to moderate with occasional heavy rains in these areas.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers may also affect Metro Manila and the other parts of the country due to local thunderstorms.

Extreme northern Luzon will have moderate to rough coastal waters due to moderate to strong winds, while the rest of Luzon and Visayas will have slight to moderate coastal waters brought by light to moderate winds.

Mindanao, meanwhile, will experience slight to moderate coastal waters pushed by light to moderate winds. (PNA)
