Electric charges to slightly increase in October

MERALCO has advised that electric charges will slightly increase in October.

MERALCO Spokesperson Joe Zaldarriaga has pointed out that the demand for electricity has increased in Luzon since outages and disconnections have been frequent. The surge is also caused by the opening of more business establishments after several areas in Luzon including Metro Manila was placed under General Community Quarantine.

Zaldarriaga disclosed that from 10,422 megawatts in August, the peak demand rose to 10,570 megawatts in September.

MERALCO will soon announce the power rate increase this week.
