Padaca faces imprisonment, pecuniary punishment

The Third Division, Sandiganbayan has adjudged former Isabela City Governor Grace Padaca guilty of malversation of public funds and graft on the controversial use of PHP25 million agricultural funds of the province in favor of a certain private firm. As punishment, the court required her to pay PHP18 million to the Provincial Government of Isabela. She will also be imprisoned for 12 to 14 years for her malversation guilt, apart from six to eight years sentence for her graft culpability. Padaca insisted her innocence on the case and informed that her staff will appeal before the court.
