Families evacuated due to ‘Odette’ rise to 26K

The number of families preemptively evacuated due to Typhoon Odette has reached 26,430 in four regions, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) announced on Thursday.

This is equivalent to 98,091 individuals residing in Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga, OCD 24/7 operations center chief Joe-Mar Perez said in his presentation in a briefing on Thursday afternoon.

This can be broken down into the following:

-Central Visayas — 867 families

-Eastern Visayas — 4,615 families

-Northern Mindanao — 60 families

-Caraga — 20,888 families

“Odette” has also affected 59 seaports in Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Central Visayas, Northern Mindanao and Caraga, of which all are now non-operational.

Also stranded were a total of 3,855 passengers, 1,616 rolling stocks, 29 vessels along with three motor bancas.

Perez also said that there are 3,175 available searches, rescue and retrieval teams.

There are also 588 land, 281 sea, and eight air assets allocated for these missions.

These will be coming from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Bureau of Fire Protection, and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.

Meanwhile, 66 land assets, 245 sea assets, and 39 air assets are available for logistics missions.

These will be coming from the AFP, PCG, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Office of Civil Defense, and Department of Public Works and Highways. (PNA)-rir
