Fewer vehicles travel in NCR roads as Quinta hits Ph

Monitoring and assessment of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) show that fewer cars and wider roads were observed in main thoroughfares in the National Capital Region (NCR) during typhoon Quinta’s stay in the country.

The movement along Service Road to Makati was lighter compared to the regular Monday traffic build-ups during rush hours. Vehicles also moved with ease along Commonwealth Avenue near Microtel and Batasan.
However, vehicles slowed down on Monday morning along Elliptical Road partly due to the installation of the RFID in a portion of Quezon Memorial Circle. Around 260 motorists were given RFIDs and some 50 vehicles were still up for processing as of 4:30 p.m.

The number of recorded accidents also declined to 16 from the last Monday’s 22 due to fewer vehicles.

Meanwhile, billboards were temporarily folded along EDSA in preparation for the strong winds brought about by typhoon Quinta. The MMDA said it has not monitored flooding in NCR on Monday since there were no heavy rains. – Report from Karen Villanda
