A fire of still unknown origin hit a passenger bus in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao on Monday (Oct. 11) afternoon.

Lt. Colonel Rommel Dela Vega, Datu Odin Sinsuat town police chief, said the incident occurred at past 2:00 p.m. along the national highway in Barangay Kurintem here.

“Nobody was hurt,” Dela Vega said in an interview with reporters.

The Husky bus firm, operated by the Biocrest Multi-Purpose Cooperative, was loaded with about 20 passengers heading to General Santos City from Cotabato City when the conflagration occurred.

“I sniffed something that of a plastic material is burning and when I turned around, I saw smoke coming from the rear section of the bus,” Selma Kamensa, a passenger, told reporters in a separate interview after the incident.

“All the passengers are safe,” she said.

Arson investigators are still determining what triggered the fire at the rear engine compartment of the bus. (PNA) – bny
