Reflecting President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s high regard for the welfare of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos and Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac led the ribbon cutting ceremony of the new OFW Lounge in NAIA Terminal 1 on Tuesday.
The newly opened facility is equipped with charging stations, resting areas, and baggage storage rooms, with staff serving complimentary food and beverages to passengers.
The OFW Lounge is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to cater to OFWs, irrespective of the type of tickets that they are holding.
It also serves as the President’s early Christmas gift to Filipino migrant workers, underscoring his administration’s commitment to honor the sacrifices and contributions of the ‘modern-day heroes’ to the country’s progress and bottomline.
This was first introduced in 2024 as a joint project of the House of Representatives, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), DMW, and the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA).
Also in attendance at the event were OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan, Pasay City Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano, and New NAIA Infrastructure Corporation (NNIC) Chairperson and CEO Ramon Ang.
