Floods inundate six Nueva Ecija villages

LICAB, Nueva Ecija – Six villages in the town proper were inundated by unprecedented flood for two days since Thursday night, displacing at least 2,584 families, Mayor Eufemia D. Domingo said on Saturday.

Eufemia said some 30 families from Poblacion Sur were evacuated to the municipal gym inside the town hall compound, the designated evacuation center by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

Ironically, the gym’s floor is also inundated by knee-deep flood, prompting the evacuees to occupy the stage and the bleachers.

“It is only now (that we had) this kind of flood. It was so swift,” Domingo said.

“Relief packs were sent to affected families,” she added.

In Cabanatuan City, trucks and rescue equipment were pre-positioned in strategic places for speedy action as rains continue to occasionally pour. (Marilyn Galang/PNA)
