Israeli Ambassador IIan Fluss paid a courtesy call on president-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Monday, June 13, to personally give the congratulatory letter from President Isaac Herzog.

The letter indicated the appreciation of President Herzog to the long decade of friendship and cooperation between Israel and the Philippines. He also mentioned his initiative to continuously strengthen the relationship between the two nations.

“The State of Israel and the Republic of the Philippines share a decades-long history of warm and friendly ties. We enjoy growing cooperation spanning a range of spheres, including technology, agriculture, water, health and defense,” Herzog said in his letter.

“I firmly believe that Israel’s Ambassador Mr. IIan Fluss will continue to strengthen the cooperation between our two nations,” he added.

The Israeli president invited incoming president Marcos Jr. for an official visit to their country.

“I would be delighted to host you in Israel for an official visit, which would afford us the opportunity to deepen our dialogue in person, as our countries move toward growing cooperation,” he said.

Fluss shared in a media briefing after the courtesy call that he and Marcos Jr. talked about cooperation against threats of terrorism and threats to democracy.  – ag
