Ginebra returns to play with win over Columbian

MANILA — Ginebra opened its bid for a third consecutive PBA Governors’ Cup title with a 96-84 victory over Columbian at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on Friday night.

The Barangay, who returned to play after clinching the Commissioner’s Cup championship, stifled the Dyip in the fourth quarter and eventually dropped 33 points in the said period to pull away from a tight match.

Justin Brownlee erupted for 34 points with 20 rebounds, five assists, three steals, and three blocks for Ginebra, which will only have a one day off before facing conference-leading Alaska on Sunday night.

Greg Slaughter and Japeth Aguilar each added 14 markers.
