Globe readies Libreng Tawag, WiFi services as ‘Isang’ enters PAR

Globe is ready to extend Libreng Tawag, Libreng Charging, and Libreng WiFi services to residents in areas that may be affected by Tropical Storm Isang which has entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).

While Isang is not expected to turn into a typhoon and make landfall, it may still bring significant amounts of rain that may cause possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

As part of the company’s intensified disaster preparedness campaign, Globe also assured the public that its technical and support personnel are always on call. Likewise, there are standby generators for its facilities during power supply interruptions to ensure continuous communications services.

Globe is also providing its customers’ free data access to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) website (https://ndrrmc.gov.ph/) for updates from authorities, and reminds Filipinos to only tune into legitimate and trusted websites for correct information.

In case of heavy rains, possible flash floods, or landslides during severe thunderstorms, Globe advises residents to stay indoors, store enough food and water, prepare candles and first aid kits, ensure their flashlights have extra batteries and their mobile phones are charged, and expect to receive SMS alerts from NDRRMC.

According to the 10:00 a.m. bulletin of PAGASA, the center of Isang was estimated at 605 kilometers east northeast of Basco or Itbayat, Batanes (21.8°N, 127.6°E), with maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour (km/h) near the center, with gustiness of up to 90 km/h.
