House approves bill providing free annual medical check-ups

The House of Representatives on Tuesday (June 1) approved on final reading a bill that will provide free annual medical check-ups for Filipinos.

The solons passed House Bill No. 9072 voting 245-0. The bill aims to ensure that every Filipino citizen has a “right to health” under the Philippine Constitution.

HB 9072 covers all Filipinos with Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) membership in accordance with the Universal Health Care Law. The bill also includes free blood sugar and cholesterol testing as well as laboratory and diagnostic tests for all beneficiaries.

According to the bill, all expenses will be charged to PhilHealth.
