Ilocos Norte Christmas caravan benefits poor families

LAOAG CITY—In the spirit of Christmas, the provincial government distributed on Monday Noche Buena packages to 2,000 poor families in the northern part of Ilocos Norte.

Governor Ma. Imelda Josefa Marcos led the distribution in the towns of Pasuquin, Burgos, Bangui and Pagudpud.

She also paid tribute to senior citizens who are celebrating their birthday this month and gave them personalized cake together with the grocery items.

Every year, the provincial government distributes Noche Buena items to ensure that every family will be feel the spirit of Christmas.

The selected beneficiaries, according to Edwin Cariño of the Sustainable Development Office, were not included in the 4Ps or the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program which beneficiaries get regular assistance from the national government.

Cariño said they chose those who live in highly vulnerable areas and most of them were hard-hit by previous typhoons and have not recovered their losses yet. (PNA)
