LAOAG CITY — A pioneering integrated organic farm in Batac City, Ilocos Norte, which produces high-value crops using the hydroponics technology, along with poultry and native hogs, has been recognized for product excellence based on a consumer survey and market research.

Thankful for the latest award as “Best Quality Organic Farming Solutions in Ilocos region”, John Lei Ganiron, farm supervisor of Romaine Organics, said it has always been a tough ride for his family in Ben-agan village, Batac City to be on top of a systematic integrated organic farming business.

Ganiron said he is also grateful for public and private stakeholders who have helped the farm achieve such a feat.

“These are the reasons why we are more motivated and determined to work on our mission to provide healthy and nutritious organic food from our farm to your table,” Ganiron said.

Q Asia’s National Product Quality Excellence Awards will present Romaine Organics the product quality seal in a ceremony to be held at the Diamond Hotel on May 31.

As an accredited learning site in the region since July 2016, Romaine Organics farm continues to promote sustainable agriculture using combined technologies as it also shares its best practices to interested farmers and plant enthusiasts.

Apart from the greenhouse the Ganiron family maintains beside their house, they also developed a three-hectare organic farm in San Mateo village, which is planted with various high-value crops, such as sweet and American peppers, salad and cherry tomatoes, eggplant, and squash.

The family is also engaged in tilapia and catfish raising.

Launched in 2005, the National Product Quality Excellence Awards recognizes companies, products, and services that have met the standards of quality, deserving of praise and commendation from consumers and the public in general.

This is a joint project of Q Asia Magazine, Q Asia Publication Consultancy Services, and National Council for Product and Service Quality.
