Isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms will prevail over most parts of the country, the weather bureau said on Thursday, July 14.
In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the southwest monsoon (habagat) will cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Ilocos Region, Bataan, and Zambales.
“The effects of the southwest monsoon, and the low pressure area (LPA) that we are monitoring, have weakened,” said Grace Castañeda of PAGASA.
Residents of these areas must take precautions against possible flooding and landslides during moderate to at times heavy rains.
PAGASA last tracked the LPA at 185 kilometers west-northwest of Itbayat, Batanes.
“It still has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within 24 hours. It also continues to move away from the Philippine Area of Responsibility,” Castañeda said.
Isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms will be experienced over the rest of the country.
Meanwhile, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will continue to prevail over the western section of Luzon.
Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. (PNA)
