ITCZ to bring rains over Palawan, Mindanao

MANILA — An inter-tropical convergence zone (ITCZ) continues to affect Mindanao and Palawan, the weather bureau said Tuesday.

In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Palawan, Zamboanga Peninsula, the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, General Santos City (SOCCSKSARGEN) and Davao Region will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, PAGASA continues to monitor a weather disturbance outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

PAGASA weather forecaster Chris Perez said as of 3 a.m., severe tropical storm “Yutu” was spotted 2,925 kilometers east of Visayas.

“Yutu” is packing maximum sustained winds of up to 110 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 130 kilometers per hour (kph).

Moving west northwest at 15 kph, “Yutu” is not expected to enter PAR or directly affect the country in the next two to three days.

Termperature in Metro Manila ranges from 24-33 degrees Celsius; Tuguegarao City 21-31 degrees Celsius; Baguio City 14-24 degrees Celsius; Angeles City 25-34 degrees Celsius; Lipa City 24-34 degrees Celsius; Metro Cebu 24-32 degrees Celsius; and Metro Davao 24-32. ( Lily Ramos/PNA)
