ITCZ to bring rains over some parts of PH

By Ma. Cristina Arayata | Philippine News Agency

The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will bring rains over some parts of the country, the weather bureau said Tuesday, July 5.

Aldczar Aurelio of PAGASA said a low pressure area (LPA), embedded along the ITCZ, has developed inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. It was last tracked 30 kilometers east of Juban, Sorsogon.

“This LPA has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next two to three days,” he said.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over Bicol Region, Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, Marinduque, and Romblon.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said flash floods or landslides are likely during moderate to at times heavy rains.

The rest of the country will have isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.
Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will prevail over the entire archipelago. – gb
