Japan gov’t donates 1-M AstraZeneca vaccine doses to the Philippines

The Government of Japan is donating one million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine to the Philippines’ national vaccination program.

In a Twitter post on Tuesday (June 29), the Ambassador of Japan in the Philippines Koshikawa Kazuhiko confirmed that one million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine is expected to arrive in the Philippines on July 8, 2021.

“We are working double time so this donation reaches Philippine shores without delay,” the ambassador said in the post.

Earlier this month, the United States of America also committed to donate some of its 80 million surplus COVID-19 vaccine doses to the Philippines. – Report from Alvin Barcelona / CF-rir
