Lady gunrunner nabbed in Cavite

GEN. MARIANO ALVAREZ, Cavite – A suspected woman gunrunner was caught selling illegal firearms during an entrapment operation by this town’s Drug Enforcement Unit in Barangay Bernardo Pulido here.

Chief Inspector Romulo Dela Rea, police chief of General Mariano Alvarez (GMA), identified the suspect as Mylyn Barbon Romero, 29 and resident of Barangay Bernardo Pulido in this town.

Dela Rea said the suspect was nabbed by combined elements of DEU and police intelligence section during their operation Saturday afternoon, after a police officer acted as the poseur-buyer of the firearm without necessary documents.

During the entrapment operation, six colored photo copies of PHP 1,000 bills with the serial numbers LY954761 were also confiscated from Romero, who was  also suspected to have distributed counterfeit money when the police operatives discovered “fake” money she allegedly used for the “budol-budol” or swindling modus operandi.

The suspect is now under police custody facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the “Unlawful Acquisition, or Possession of Firearms and Ammunition.” (Rogelio Limpin/PNA)
