LPA brings rain to Mindanao

A low pressure area (LPA) seen within the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) at 40 kilometer southwest of General Santos City will bring moderate to heavy rains over extreme Mindanao, the weather bureau said on Monday, May 2.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over Northern Mindanao, Caraga, Zamboanga Peninsula, Soccsksargen, as well as the Davao Region.

PAGASA warned for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains across these areas.

The same weather condition and impacts will also prevail over Batanes and Babuyan Islands brought by the frontal system affecting extreme Northern Luzon.

Meanwhile, the easterlies will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country. Possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms may occur.

Light to moderate winds from east to southeast will blow across Mindanao, Visayas, and the rest of Luzon with slight to moderate coastal waters while moderate to strong winds from northeast to east will blow over extreme Northern Luzon with moderate to rough coastal waters. -VC-ngs
