LPA to bring scattered rains across PH

By Ma. Cristina Arayata | Philippine News Agency

A low-pressure area (LPA) will cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Palawan, the Visayas, and Mindanao on Wednesday, the weather bureau said.

These areas could experience flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 5 a.m. weather bulletin.

The LPA was last tracked 195 km. south of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

It is less likely to develop into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours, PAGASA said.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon will bring rains over the province of Aurora, the regions of Cagayan Valley, Calabarzon, Bicol, and the rest of Mimaropa.

It will also cause light rains over the rest of Luzon.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas still prevail over the entire archipelago.

Rough to very rough seas are forecast over the eastern seaboards of Luzon, the western and northern seaboards of Northern Luzon, the western and eastern seaboards of Southern Luzon, and the eastern seaboard of the Visayas.

PAGASA advised fishing boats and other small vessels not to venture into the sea, and larger sea vessels have been alerted against big waves. – gb
