PBBM joins nation in welcoming 2023, calls for solidarity

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. called on Filipinos to join hands to meet the country’s goals as he joined the nation in welcoming the New Year with hope and optimism.

In his New Year message, Marcos expressed confidence that the nation can face all challenges through solidarity and unity, one of his leading calls during the campaign period and at the start of his term.

“As we reflect on the events that transpired in the previous year, I hope that we will draw strength and inspiration from what truly binds us together—our genuine love for our fellow Filipinos and our country. This is the essence of our call for unity and the impetus for our continued invitation to work together for the realization of our shared aspirations as a people,” he said.

“It is in this understanding that we need, now more than ever, to embody the true meaning of solidarity. The innate Bayanihan spirit in all of us is what will keep us going amidst all adversities that will continue to test our fortitude as a nation,” he continued.

He also urged Filipinos to “move full-steam ahead”  to improve the lives of every Filipino family.

“I am confident that, by coming together, we can withstand and overcome all challenges and bring our nation to greater heights,” he said.

“As we look forward to a fruitful and hopeful New Year, let us remain steadfast and united as ever as we ask for the Almighty’s continued guidance in our journey toward a better, brighter, and more prosperous future for our nation,” he added.

In his Christmas message last week, the chief executive noted how generosity and goodwill can help in overcoming the impact posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and other challenges.

The President recently signed Proclamation No. 115 declaring December 26, 2022 as an additional special non-working day throughout the country to allow Filipinos fully celebrate the holiday with their loved ones.

He also signed Proclamation 90 in November, amending Proclamation 42 to also include January 2, 2023 as a special non-working day. AG
