LTFRB to open more routes prior to F2F classes resumption

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will open around 100 routes for public utility vehicles in preparation for the resumption of face-to-face classes this month.

The routes will include non-EDSA routes such as the Sapang Palay route direct to the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) from Quezon Avenue.

The LTFRB said the opening is based on route rationalization.

LTFRB Chairperson Atty. Cheloy Garafil said they will issue the memorandum before the class opening on Aug. 22 regarding the “new routes or modified routes” to address the demand for more buses.

“Ang naging focus natin dito ay ‘yung mga areas na maraming paaralan. ‘Yung university belt, at ‘yung pagpunta fon at pag-alis. So iyon po ang naging primary considerations natin doon sna mga rutang ire-reopen,” she said.

Meanwhile, along with the release of the new route, the P4.00 to P7.00 fare hike requested by city and provincial bus operators will also be decided. —Report from Karen Villanda/KC-ag
