Luzon Grid under Red Alert

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) placed the Luzon Grid under Red Alert status on Monday, Sept. 12, afternoon after the forced outage of at least seven power plants.

In an advisory, NGCP said the Luzon Grid was placed under Yellow Alert status from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The Luzon Grid will be under Red Alert from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and will be downgraded to Yellow Alert status again from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

NGCP said the available capacity was estimated at 10,727 megawatts, with the peak demand seen at 10,585 megawatts.

Meanwhile, three power plants are running on derated capacities, while a total of 3,627 megawatts were lost from the grid after seven power plants were on forced outage.
