Malacañang lauds workers on Labor Day

Malacañang has ensured the continuous protection of Filipino workers in celebration of Labor Day.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, the Palace sees that the work sector is in need of support especially in this time of fighting the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis.

(We can see that we prioritize our workers in the distribution of aid. The President has promised that he will sell government assets if needed, to get workers out of poverty.) ”

The Palace acknowledges the contribution and effort of every Filipino worker from the frontliners and those who work from home to the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).

We can see, especially from our experience with COVID-19, that without workers, there is no economy, and if there is no economy, there is no livelihood. Our workers are the true foundation of society. It is just right that we set aside a day for each year to give due recognition to our workers as heroes of society),” Roque said.

In relation with this, Pres. Spokesperson Roque has stated that protests may still be staged online as part of their right to freedom of speech which the Palace respects. This came with the assurance that their voice will be heard.
