Metro mayors agree to close cemeteries for 1 week

Metro Manila mayors have agreed to close all cemeteries for 1 week from October 29 to November 4, to avoid mass gathering amidst the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

According to the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) will still issue a recommendation regarding the dates of the closure of cemeteries in Mega Manila.

But it is up to the local government units (LGUs) to implement the guidelines on the cemetery visit.

Meanwhile, the MMDA stated that flowers and candle vendors will be allowed to sell their products outside the cemetery when residents will be permitted get in. – Report from Louise Erispe
