MMDA inks academic partnership with PUP

Qualified employees from the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) can now continue their tertiary education through a scholarship program as the agency signed a memorandum of agreement with Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) on Wednesday (April 6).

During the virtual ceremonial signing ceremony, MMDA Chairman Romando Artes said the scholarship program aims to provide employees of the department an opportunity to level up their careers through professional development programs for them.

“The goal of this partnership with PUP is to offer study grants to our employees. Through this program, we can give our employees a chance to continue, sustain, and complete their bachelor’s degrees and further advance their careers in the agency,” Artes said as he urged qualified employees to avail of the programs which will develop their knowledge and skills.

Meanwhile, Dr. Manuel Muhi, President of PUP, said their partnership with MMDA is an avenue of collaboration in sharing and exchanging values and academic programs which will benefit the qualified employees.

“We are thankful to the MMDA for recognizing the university’s expertise in conducting baccalaureate, post-graduate, and continuing professional development programs. These will contribute to the capability and provision of necessary foundation for further professional education and training of the MMDA employees,” Muhi said.

As an initial requirement to get qualified in the program, employees must not be a part of any form of scholarship or study grant.

Aspirants must also submit a letter of intent addressed to MMDA and must also have an endorsement letter from the chairman.

Meanwhile, undergraduate programs will only accommodate a minimum of 45 participants per class.

MMDA also partnered up with the Wesleyan College of Manila under an agreement with the Cavite State University. Since 2020, MMDA has been offering scholarship grants to their employees, particularly post-graduate education. -PTV/AL-gb
