Three more groups have joined the filing of petitions against the Anti-Terrorism Law before the Supreme Court (SC) on Friday, bringing the total number of petitions to 19.
The parties include Alternative Law Groups, bishops and church leaders, and Gabriela. Like other petitions filed earlier, the groups are also questioning the legality of the Anti-Terrorism Act for allegedly violating the 1987 Constitution.
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra believes the High Court will resolve the petitions based on arguments presented.
“The Supreme Court will resolve these issues on the merits of the arguments advanced by the parties concerned, and not on the basis of their number or personal or professional stature,” Guevarra stated.
