More tourists flock to Baguio, night market reopens

Approved travels of tourists from November 4 to December 6 in Baguio City has surpassed the 8,000 mark and more are expected this upcoming holiday season.

“We are still receiving daily requests. Let’s say an average of a hundred per day. But it doesn’t mean na lahat ‘to ma-a-approve (But it doesn’t mean all will be approved),” Tourism Operations Officer Engr. Aloysius Mapalo stated.

Baguio visitors are required to undergo a process which includes logging into Baguio Visita Account, having a confirmed travel with QR-coded tourist pass, and negative COVID-19 test result.

Meanwhile, the famous night market in the city is set to open today following the recent suspension of its operations due to violations of the physical distancing policies.

The local government has assured strict implementation of protocols with its reopening. The crowd has been limited to 300 to 350 persons each night. – Report from Florence Paytocan/PTV Cordillera
